Evidence of Fairies.

I saw the first one

after we dropped off daddy.

We did always did that.

He had to go to school.

But I always called it “work.”

Looking up,

I couldn’t see an end.

The snowflakes just continued.

I couldn’t even feel

The cold.

The mountains woke up

Powdered this morning.

Now the snow came

And visited me.

Everything is soft,

Except for the window.

It’s hard sill,

Leaves a pink line,

On my small chubby cheek.

Eyes full of snowflakes,

I’ve been staring out,

Caught in wonder and awe.

“Mommy?”

“Yes Eden?”

“Isn’t it pretty?”

“Yes very.”

“Mommy?”

“What sweetie?”

“Aren’t snowflakes really fairies?”

“Of course they are.”

We drive back from the campus.

Daddy’s in class.

The sun is still barely rising.

And snowflakes are fairies.

Of course they are.
